The wheels on the train go round...then stop...then go...then stop

I've been on an Amtrak train for 2 and a half days. Sort of. Technically i was on a train for 21 hours. We missed our connection because the train started and stopped the whole way, for no apparent reason and ran 6 hours longer than it should have. We got off at Sacramento then 8 of us piled into a minivan and chased our train to Reno. I have a slogan for Reno. "Reno. Don't go there!" Catchy no? We waited for a couple of hours and then jumped our train to Denver. Where I am right now, in the not so dodgy hostel with a bed. It is this much fun to sleep on an Amtrak train .
But it wasn't all bad i met some really interesting people AND i wasn't felt up as i slept. Which i'm told is an absolute certainty if you travel with Greyhound.

    Comments:
Isn't there an R.E.M. song about Reno? Or going to Reno? I assume it is pretty cool. There must have been something good about it. What state is it in?

It's in Nevada and I imagine it would rock if you were over 65 and blowing your pension/kids inheritance on the slots.

yeah, it's mentioned in Sister Act or its sequel... do they go to vegas in both of them?

When you reach the East Coast you must seek out a ripe peach grown in the East (from mid-Atlantic region to the South). It is the end of the peach season but you should be able to get a good one yet. Ignore those good looking Western peaches. They are a poor poor substitute for the real thing. Don't know if you can grow great peaches in Australia but for some reason I'm guessing not... Allow me to apologize for our pitiful public transportation. I can conceive of something better. LL

Australia does awesome fruit! Except berries - we aren't cold enough for berries.

... it would rock if you were over 65 and blowing your pension/kids inheritance on the slots.

Whoa, you really need to apostrophise with a bit more circumspection there, raj. For a second I had a terrible mental image of a Nevada pensioner alternately gambling and fellating their children. I guess that would rock, if you were into that sort of thing.
